A ROBOT WROTE THAT?!?
It's no secret that I'm immensely concerned about the threat AI poses to our very survival. That said, I'm eager to have conversations that challenge my presumptions about the technology.
My dialogue this week with Drake writing prof Carol Roh Spaulding was one of the most enlightening discussions I've had on the subject. I love the story Carol shares about the jumping spider -- written by GEN-AI from the spider's perspective.
It's brilliant writing, but Carol's subsequent questions for GEN-AI reiterate some of my concerns about the technology. I hope you'll listen to our discussion and share your impressions and feedback.

NO KINGS
Where ever you live in this vast country of ours, I hope you'll join one of nearly 2,000 "No Kings" mobilizations planned in both large cities and small towns.
To help assure that the actions are peaceful and family-friendly, organizers released the following statement:
The No Kings mobilizations on June 14 were already planned as a peaceful stand against authoritarian overreach and the gross abuse of power this Administration has shown. Now, this military escalation only confirms what we’ve known: this government wants to rule by force, not serve the people. From major cities to small towns, we’ll rise together and say: we reject political violence. We reject fear as governance. We reject the myth that only some deserve freedom.

AT LUXURY HOTEL, DEMS STRATEGIZE WINNING BACK MALE VOTERS.
If you thought the Democratic Party's entrenched establishment couldn't get any dumber, well I'm afraid you were wrong.
Dems are dropping $20 million on a plan called “Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan.” The effort proposes to “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces.”
Yup, solid working-class vernacular there. A less expensive, less stupid way to figure out why so many former Democratic voters have turned away from the Democratic Party would be to listen to what Party outsiders have been saying for years.
There are plenty of articulate voices out there challenging the Party to get a flippin' clue:
-- Rep. J.D. Scholten You're Probably Getting Screwed
-- Michael Salzillo The Political Pulse of America
-- Robert Reich Where the HELL Are the Democrats?
-- And yeah, me. Check out:

INSECTAGEDDON.
Humans tend to dislike insects. Big mistake. Bugs are the building blocks of the food chain. And they're in trouble.
A 2020 study found that land-based insects have declined 9% per decade. Water-based bugs are in even deeper decline, with an 11% decrease per decade. In some parts of the world, insect populations have dropped by an astounding 75%.
There are multiple factors impacting Insectageddon, though they all have one thing in common: us.
Despite these alarming numbers, my ask for you this week isn't to avoid stepping needlessly on an ant:
ATTEND THAT NO KINGS RALLY/PROTEST/ACTION! And keep it peaceful, respectful, focused. Don't give Trump any excuse to mobilize more troops to US cities -- not that a wannabe dictator needs an excuse.
Thanks for reading, listening, and taking action. -- Ed Fallon
